Why I like guns

To say that I "like" guns is an overstatement. Guns are a neutral tool used to injure or kill someone. I do not believe injuring or killing someone is inherently immoral and therefore, I simply believe it depends on how a gun is used which determines my "likeness" for it. More specifically, I vocally condemn strict firearm regulations, and I believe that as a result of the time that we are living in, it is necessary to have widespread training in gun safety and proficiency.

When fighting all powers of oppression, to live and survive, we must be ready to match our enemies power.

An ideal

An example of a potentially ideal scenario could be described as follows:

Firearm ownership is collectivised to community groups, and guns are stored in safehouses. These guns can be accessed at any time, and are available on a daily basis much like books are available in a collectively run library. However, unlike books, and especially in regards to inexperienced people, they are treated with the same caution as a hot stove, a jackhammer, or a sharp knife. In other words, caution and awareness would be common social responses to someone loaning a gun or possessing a gun for personal use. And unlike the aforementioned tools which can be used to create items, a gun has very limited use of destruction, and therefore would be treated with additional rational suspicion.

A culture of giving up possession of firearms during periods of grief would be normalised in one's own self-interest. Hunting pursued with firearms would be done in a limited capacity and with respect to the other species killed. All components of the other species would be distributed and used as part of ceremony, and this practice also partly exists for the purpose of training people in the skills of stealth which gives more realistic use of firearms. Because ultimately, the need for the safehouses is such that if a group outside of this community should attack, guns can be quickly distributed to trained people and guerilla retaliation can be used more effectively. But the ideal is such that, largely speaking, personal use is minimal/nonexistant.
